Just Like Real? China's Super-Realistic Robot Face Might Be a Bit Creepy...👀

Introducing an ultra-realistic robot face developed by a Chinese tech company that blinks and makes facial expressions just like a human. It's so realistic it's a bit scary, but you can feel the evolution of technology.
Just Like Real? China's Super-Realistic Robot Face Might Be a Bit Creepy...👀

I used to think "robot faces are still pretty artificial," but I was really surprised when I saw the face recently created by a Chinese company😳

It blinks, has different intervals between blinks, and moves its neck slowly - it's incredibly realistic✨

It's at the level where you'd do a double-take and think "Wait, isn't this human?" The feeling when you make eye contact is quite intense too... it made me feel a bit creepy, or rather, kind of strange💭

What does the face look like?

This robot face has:

  • Extremely realistic skin texture, apparently reproducing even pores and wrinkles🥺
  • Natural blinking speed and facial movements, completely programmed✨
  • Human-like neck movements, with nodding and tilting that's super realistic👀

The company that made this seems to be aiming for "the fusion of artificial intelligence and robotics," but honestly, when I first saw it, it gave me goosebumps😨

Why make it so realistic?

The reason seems to be that they want to make communication between humans and robots more natural. Apparently, conversations feel awkward if the expressions aren't rich enough💡

But it's interesting that many people find it "scary" when it's too realistic. Psychologically, there's something called the "uncanny valley" phenomenon, where artificial things that get too close to humans can trigger rejection... this might be exactly that😆

How will this relate to our future lives?

For example, it could be used as:

  • Receptionists and guides in stores
  • Companions and monitors for the elderly
  • Models for movie and game characters

But it seems like we'll still need time to get used to "human-like robots"💭

If such a robot suddenly appeared in front of me, I'd probably be confused thinking "Huh? Is it real?" and my heart would be pounding✨

Knowing that technology has come this far makes me both excited and a little scared💗

What's going on with these comments? It's just demo technology but everyone's overreacting, aren't they?

Why not make robots look like robots? Nobody wants to see the uncanny valley.

Just like Silicon Valley's Fiona, it'll probably get sold off piece by piece to some investment firm lol. Short-term profits preventing Skynet again.

Interesting that it's a Chinese company but they made a Western-style face.

Put on a short bob wig with bangs and make a surprised face. I'm researching, I'm a face specialist PhD.

Asimov was right, robots shouldn't look human.
