Lately, I've been thinking, doesn't Disney seem a bit contradictory? 💭
What I mean is, while they're pretty strict with people using free AI chatbots, basically telling them "Please stop!", the same Disney is apparently planning to use an AI hologram of Stan Lee at future events 😳✨
Why is it contradictory?
Free AI chatbots don't generate profit—in fact, they're something everyone can use freely—so maybe Disney finds it difficult to manage their brand and rights? I thought...
But on the other hand,
- Stan Lee's AI hologram is planned as "official content" that's supposed to make money
- So they can tightly control the rights, and it works as a business
Maybe that's the difference? 🤔
It feels kind of ironic, doesn't it?
Eliminating free things while fully utilizing AI technology for their own profit—it feels like they could be called "selfish," and you couldn't really blame people for thinking that 💬
But when you think about it, from a corporate standpoint, maybe this is just normal?
- Protecting rights is important, but as a business, they want to focus on things that generate profit
- Regulate things that spread for free, and invest in official ones
This part is a bit hard to understand for ordinary people like me, but it kinda makes you go "Hmm..." 💭
Summary
Disney's attitude toward free AI chatbots and their production of Stan Lee's AI hologram—both use AI, but the way they're treated is completely different, and that's the interesting part 🥺✨
Somehow, corporate circumstances and technological evolution are intertwined, and it's confusing, but I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye on how this develops 🌸

It's not free. Character AI is paid and they're making money with characters they don't have rights to, so there are copyright issues.
ハンナ
Disney hasn't really valued fans much for over 5 years now, so this isn't surprising.
ノーラン
With other works, DMCA takedowns are somewhat understandable, but it's especially frustrating because it's Disney.
クリス
Putting Disney aside, the AI Stan Lee is from a company called Kartoon Studios, and they're the ones who hold his likeness rights.

The double standards from Disney in recent years. They make Pride specials but cancel shows over same-sex couples kissing (lol).
グレース
It's the difference between characters that make money and those that don't.

Character thumbnails and profile images are definitely off-limits. Voices are gray area for parody and imitation, but you should definitely change the names a bit and never use images.

This is a big issue. Thanks for explaining, I didn't know why it was removed. I think it'll probably come back.

To be honest, Disney is a bit strict, but the characters themselves are being used for free and it could be considered fair use. But it's not completely black and white—Character AI is indirectly making profit and using them without permission is the problem. Plus, some people are using Disney's family-friendly characters in weird ways, which is concerning. Both sides could have handled this better.

Disney has always been shady. Thanks for noticing.
エイダン
The title is accurate (lol).

Not necessarily that Disney is evil though.
ハンナ
This isn't just about money, it's about managing character image. They don't want yandere Elsa or tsundere Gaston.

#StanLeeAI isn't Disney
ロバート
This is a rare case where Disney isn't the villain.

I looked it up a bit, and the AI Stan Lee unveiled at LA Comic Con isn't related to Disney. Even though they own Marvel, the name and likeness rights aren't Disney's.
