Meta Told Employees 'Your Job Will Be Replaced by AI' - Got Me Thinking

Based on the news that Meta (formerly Facebook) told employees 'your job will be replaced by technology,' I casually pondered the future of technology and work.
Meta Told Employees 'Your Job Will Be Replaced by AI' - Got Me Thinking

I was pretty surprised when I saw the recent news that Meta (formerly Facebook) told employees "your job will be replaced by technology" 😳💭

It made me realize that even in big companies like this, the wave of AI and automation is directly impacting jobs...

How Would You Feel If You Were Told "Your Job Is Going Away"?

If it were me, honestly, I'd probably feel pretty down if I was told that directly 🥺
But thinking about it differently, it might also mean "the company is preparing for the future," right?

Apparently, Meta plans to reduce some employees by 2025 and cover that gap with technology.
In other words, 'technology will do the work instead of people' ✨

Why Would They Do This?

■ Cost reduction 💸
■ Efficiency improvement ⚡
■ They want to challenge new technologies 🚀

I understand that companies want to operate more efficiently, but from the perspective of the employees, it's nothing but anxiety, right?

The "Jobs Being Taken by AI" Discussion Might Not Be Someone Else's Problem

I don't think this news is just about Meta alone.
AI and automation are advancing rapidly, and there's a high possibility the same thing will happen in other companies and industries 💡

For example, data analysis and simple tasks are apparently already being handled quite a bit by AI 👀
When you think about that, it's natural to feel anxious and wonder "what will happen to my job?" 🥺

What Should We Do From Now On?

Hmm, honestly I haven't found the answer yet either,
but at least I think "acquiring new skills" and "learning about technology without fear" are important ✨

For example, for people like me who just entered the workforce,
we don't know what will happen in the future, but maybe we just have to stay flexible and adapt...?

Somehow, I think this story means "while technology becomes more convenient, people's jobs will change, so we better prepare" 💭✨
Thinking that my own job might be replaced someday makes me a little nervous, but well, I guess that's just the flow of the times... 🌸

Hmm... that's a bit sad 🥺

They're just shifting to India. Australia's largest bank is doing the same - firing 350 people while hiring over 1,000 in Bangalore.

They create this narrative that AI can replace people, then use AI as the excuse for all layoffs, but they're selling AI too, right?

Since COVID, it's just a cycle of hiring and firing to keep wages down.

The important thing is this isn't AI layoffs but just automation, and the number of layoffs is vague like 'to some extent.'

I always wonder if they're actually just cutting people normally and saying 'replaced by AI' to reassure investors?

This is a business decision - they have to pay for the people they poached from other AI companies too.

According to the article, Meta's latest restructuring is the result of a major shift toward automation for efficiency and cost reduction, and major companies from Meta to Amazon are using AI to transform their organizations.

600 people fired in the Superintelligence department? Lol, like 'Go learn AI' or something.
